Todd Felderstein is an award-winning screen/stage director, photographer, and is the resident artist at the west coast branch of The Actors Studio. He is the founder of Smartphone Theatre, a digital theatrical laboratory for playwrights and theatre-makers, and an instructor at the Los Angeles Center of Photography and Samy's Camera. 

 

Born in Eastman Kodak territory and raised in Baltimore, Todd Felderstein now calls Los Angeles his home. Todd's narrative and nonfiction projects have been honored by dozens of festivals globally which include Dances With Films, NBCU, Rhode Island Int. Festival and the Emerging Filmmaker Program at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2024, The Braid honored Todd with the Next+ directing fellowship for that same season. Todd optioned, adapted, and directed the Dan Millman tentpole, 'Way of the Peaceful Warrior' for the LA stage shortly before making 'Where We Rise' which commemorates the one-year anniversary of the tragic Pacific Palisades fires in nonfiction short-form. Todd was a co-writer on Sony TV's 'Spider-Man' animated series starring Neil Patrick Harris in the title role co-creating the villainess 'Shikata' voiced by Gina Gershon, a new addition to the Marvel Universe. His feature documentary 'Magics' follows a medical magician attempting to further healing in kids of all ethnic backgrounds through a mixture of magic and humor in pediatric hospitals during Israel's Second Intifada.

 

Todd is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild (MPEG), Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Dramatists Guild, and the International Documentary Association (IDA). He continues to donate his time to youth in challenged communities through art-based storytelling programs. His passion behind the lens remains as strong today as ever as he shares this love of photography through workshops across Southern California.
