A directing member of The Actors Studio and their Artist-In-Residence, TODD MITCHELL FELDERSTEIN continues his award-winning career in film, tv and theatre. Maintaining an ongoing slate of both narrative and nonfiction projects, he is thrilled to be among the 2024-25 NEXT+ Fellows of The Braid.

In March of 2020 at the onset the pandemic, Todd founded Smartphone Theatre which in its first two years mounted over 50 original online plays, poetry readings and conversations to a global audience in the thousands. Casts included Oscar and Tony winners from Broadway to Hollywood such as: Oscar winner Alan Arkin, Oscar nominated director Mark Rydell, Director Asaad Kelada, Tony winner Poetri, Robert Hays, Susan Sullivan, Mitch Ryan, David Selby, Stan Davis and dozens of others. Encore Theatre Group tapped him to realize SHE KILLS MONSTERS first online and then at the Warner Grand Theater. In television, Todd served as one of only four writers on the hit SPIDER-MAN animated series for Sony TV starring Neil Patrick Harris in the title role. He co-wrote the episode The Sword of Shikata  which was voiced by Gina Gershon.

No stranger to nonfiction, Todd's work includes the international feature documentary MAGICS which won 5 "Best" awards in festivals across the country and was the official selection in festivals from the US to Israel. In short-form, Todd has been fortunate to sit down with music legends: Jerry Moss, Barbra Streisand, Booker T., Ray Parker, Jr., Michael Thompson, John JR Robinson, Bobby Watson along with Tom Hayden, Senator Brad Sherman, and so many others.

Todd is honored to be one of twelve American filmmakers chosen to participate in the 2007 filmmaking TALA masterclass founded by the Los Angeles Jewish Federation. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, Todd is a former amateur triathlete and nidan in the martial art, Aikido. A professional photographer for over 25 years, Todd's large body of work is rooted portrait, music and street photography. 

 

Todd Felderstein has ongoing photography workshops at  the Los Angeles Center of Photography and Samy's Photo School. In Los Angeles Todd has lectured at: USC, Cal State LA, UCLA along with dozens of high schools and charter schools on the topics of media and story. He has set up film, theatre, photography and storytelling programs across the country.
